In the whisky world, peat is used to dry out malted barley, the main ingredient in whisky. They burn peat under the barley, and the smoke seeps in, giving the whisky a smoky, earthy flavor. The more peat they use, the smokier the whisky gets. It's like giving the whisky a campfire twist!
So many factors affect the way peated whiskies taste from the type of peat used, the level to which it’s peated to the age of the whisky. It’s not just about having a smoky whisky but it’s about more intense and robust flavor.
This edition highlights 9 unique whiskies that have been peated to some different levels, allowing you to explore a wide range and give you a chance to fall in love with it like we did!
